Vacation 2008: Day 10 (Part 1)

It’s the end of our first cruise. People are disembarking. I’ve met some interesting people on this cruise.

The first person I met, Brooke, is a young model / actress. She’ll be starting a new series in Vancouver so I look forward to seeing her again. I also met, although I did know it at the time, was Former California Governor Pete Wilson. Three older ladies were traveling together, one of whom in her seventies, works in the White House and has since at least the 1980s. I met a nice older couple who are from the UK, and another from Australia. The Australian couple is staying on for the next cruise. There have been many more people I’ve met – too many to list here. I’ll try to go into more detail in another post.

So today we are in Stockholm, Sweden. The tour we were going to go on was canceled, so I did a Google search with the terms “Stockholm art museums” and found this page which lead me to want to visit the National Museum of Fine Art. The museum is described as having a …fantastic paintings and sculptures by Rembrandt, Rubens, Boucher, Renoir, Degas and Gauguin and the Swedish masters Anders Zorn and Carl Larsson. There are also significant collections of drawings, engravings and hand crafted art from the Renaissance to the present day. The official website of the Museum has more information about their collection. The museum opens at 11am, so I have about an hour or so to kill before we leave. I also have to find out when we have to be back at the ship. Apparently at 1pm, the museum has an official tour of the painting collection which looks interesting, but if we have to say be back on board by 2pm then that would not be doable.

Anyway, I’m posting more photos to flickr right now. So I’m going to continue that.

I’ll post more later.
